We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated members to join our committee and help ensure the success of these events. Volunteers will have the opportunity to contribute their skills, network with fellow members, and make a positive impact on our association.

What is C.O.R.E?

The Community Outreach and Events Committee with the Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS® (SBAOR) offers an enriching experience that extends beyond professional networking—it's an avenue for actively contributing to the betterment of the local community.

As a member of this dynamic committee, you'll find yourself at the heart of some of SBAOR's most engaging initiatives. From coordinating the annual charity fundraiser, to igniting the festive spirit with the vibrant Fiesta Kick-off Party and showing appreciation to members through the Member Appreciation Party, there's no shortage of exciting events to be a part of.

The CORE Committee is responsible for organizing three major events each year for the Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS®:

  1. Charity Fundraiser
  2. Fiesta Kick-Off Party
  3. Member Appreciation Event

Volunteer Structure

  • Task Forces: Each event will have a dedicated task force responsible for planning and execution. Volunteers will choose at least one event to serve on a task force leadership team.
  • Task Force Leadership Team: This team will consist of key roles such as Event Chair, Marketing Lead, Logistics Coordinator, and Sponsorship Coordinator. Leadership team members will play a critical role in guiding the planning process and ensuring the event’s success.
  • General Volunteers: In addition to serving on a leadership team for one event, volunteers are expected to contribute to at least one other event as a general volunteer. General volunteers assist with tasks such as setup, registration, and on-the-day activities.

Volunteer Commitment

  • Event Selection: When applying, volunteers will be asked to provide their ranked choices for the three events. Please rank the events in order of preference based on your interest and availability.
  • Leadership and Support: Volunteers must commit to taking on a leadership role for one event and supporting another event as a general volunteer. This ensures a collaborative effort and helps distribute responsibilities evenly across all events.

Application Process

  1. Application Form: Interested members must fill out the CORE Committee Volunteer Application, indicating their ranked event preferences.
  2. Selection and Assignment: Based on the applications, volunteers will be assigned to task forces and leadership roles. Efforts will be made to align your top preferences with available roles, but flexibility may be required.
  3. Training and Meetings: Task force leadership teams will have access to resources, including training and regular planning meetings, to support their roles.

Expectations

  • Active Participation: Volunteers are expected to actively participate in planning meetings and contribute to their assigned tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other committee members, association staff, and event sponsors to ensure smooth execution.
  • Commitment: Dedication to the event(s) chosen, including attending key meetings, being available for event setup, and assisting on the day of the event.

Benefits

  • Networking: Build connections with fellow REALTORS® and industry professionals.
  • Leadership Development: Gain valuable experience in event planning and leadership.
  • Community Impact: Contribute to the success of events that benefit the association and the wider community.
